description

Hoary Skullcap (Scutellaria incana) is an underrated beauty, valued for its long bloom time and is easy to grow. Its bushy habit and soft purple-blue flowers give it a strong yet refined presence, making it an excellent structural plant for the middle layer of the garden!

Blooming from late June through August, spike-like racemes of hooded, softly hairy tubular flowers rise above gray-green, ovate foliage. Hoary Skullcap grows best in part sun with average, well-drained soil. While it tolerates more shade, flowering will be less prolific in lower light conditions.

Throughout its extended bloom season, Scutellaria incana attracts butterflies, bees, birds, and a wide range of beneficial insects, making it both a beautiful and ecologically valuable addition to the garden!
