Spotted Beebalm (Monarda punctata) is a unique and unusual wildflower that is sure to make people stop and admire it! With its striking mix of colors and interesting form, it makes a bold statement in any sunny garden.


Blooming from July through September, its yellow to creamy white flowers with purple spots are sandwiched between large pink leafy bracts. Spotted Beebalm has fragrant, medium-green lance-shaped foliage and prefers dry to average soil in full sun. Its makes a wonderful addition to hot and tough garden locations!


This fascinating biennial attracts a wide range of pollinators including butterflies, hummingbird moths, hummingbirds, and native bees. Monarda punctata is also a host plant for the Gray Marvel (Anterastria teratophora) and Raspberry Pyrausta (Pyrausta acrionalis) moths! In winter, its unique round seedheads add wonderful upright structure and seasonal interest to the garden.
