description
Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) is the perfect addition to moist to wet gardens like rain gardens. Its vibrant blue flowers bring striking late-summer color and draw in butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees when many other blooms are fading!
Blooming from July through August, true blue flower spikes rise above dark green, oblong to oval, toothed leaves on upright stems. Great Blue Lobelia thrives best in part sun to part shade with consistently moist to wet soil. While it can tolerate average moisture and even full sun, it performs best where the soil never completely dries out.
As a dependable late-season nectar source, Lobelia siphilitica is an excellent choice for supporting pollinators while adding bold color and vertical interest to the garden!
