description

Lanceleaf Tickseed (Coreopsis lanceolata) is an adorable yellow wildflower that’s sure to catch your attention! This airy, “see-through” perennial weaves beautifully among neighboring plants, adding movement and brightness without feeling heavy.

Blooming from May through June, often extending into August with deadheading, its golden-yellow petals surround a warm central disk, held atop slender, upright stems that gently sway in the breeze. Lanceleaf Tickseed thrives in full sun with dry to average, well-drained soil and performs especially well in hot, tough locations.

Beyond its cheerful sunray blooms, Coreopsis lanceolata serves as the host plant for the Wavy-Lined Emerald (Synchlora aerata) moth and is a critical nectar and pollen source for specialist native bees such as the Tickseed Longhorn Bee (Melissodes coreopsis)! It’s also beloved by songbirds like goldfinches and attracts a wide range of pollinators, making it both charming and ecologically valuable.
